Don't ask me how, but I lost the key to my X1 today. I thought I had a spare from when I bought the bike, but it hasn't been seen in years. I enquired about a replacement ignition switch with my dealer a while and I remember them saying I had to supply my VIN and they'd get me a new switch, but it would take several weeks (8 weeks?). (I managed to clean the switch and jumper the park and on positions so I never ordered one) Is it the same with replacement keys? Can you get them any quicker somehow? I can get a switch/keys from American Sport Bike or similar, but I'd like a key for my steering lock. cheers, chili |

Ordered keys with VIN and dealer had them in two part-weeks. None asked me to document it was my motorcycle. ? |

Thanks! I will ring dealer here tomorrow again and find out when next shipment is leaving. Maybe he said 5 weeks? Other options are local locksmith and new switch/keys from American Sport Bike. Scarey that you don't have to prove ownership... |

Depends where you take it to but it should be just 2-3 weeks. (At least for me) |

I received my replacement keys (came as a pair) within 10 working days. I did have to show my registration. IIRC it was less than $20. |
