Hello, I'm new to these boards, having just got my 08 scg. I wish I could say all is well with it, as should be with a bike bought with 36 miles, but alas. Not so.

4 times, it has cut out on me, died in the middle of a ride. The common factors are:

- at least 20 miles of riding time, ranging from 20 miles to 100 miles
- low RPM's relative to the gear; happened in 3rd twice, once starting off at a stoplight

The first two times I immediately pulled in the clutch, downshifted to neutral, and tried to restart. It cranked over for several second but would not start. The second two times I got it over to the side of the road before attempting a restart, but it would not even crank over.

On the side of the road, I cut off the bike, turned it back on, turned on the kill switch. Normally, the orange check engine light illuminates and the fuel pump engages, but I hear nothing. No light, no fuel pump. All the other battery functions work. After a bit of time (anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, longer when it was hot outside, seemingly) the problem disappears and I'm good to go- I've gotten home every time after it returns to normal.

I have had the techs at the HD dealer look at it twice - they ran their diagnostics and found no problems, and rode test it for 20 and 30 miles, finding nothing. They cleaned the grounding contacts as well. I thought that might have fixed it but a short ride this evening (25 miles) proved otherwise.

I've skimmed through lots of postings on the site and think it could be related to low battery (they replaced it when I test rode it initially as it was dead) or a bad voltage regulator, but I am out of my element here. Any ideas? I'm losing faith in the techs at HD, who seem unwilling to do anything unless they can duplicate the problem, but perfectly willing to charge me if they can't find a problem.

Thanks
