Just wondering if anybody has done the Jet Hot coating on the outside of their muffy. I'm planning on doing a bit of muffler tweaking this off-season. (Gonna gut it and do a flowmaster type baffle setup in it) And I am planning on getting my headers done in the silver color. I figured while I was at it, maybe I could get the can done in the black on the outside and spare myself the possibility of rust eating up all the work I'm planning on doing to the thing. The outer sheet metal of the can is stainless as are the headers correct? Is it do-able? Will it even be worth it? I'm guessing it could still rust from the inside also huh? I dunno, any help is greatly appreciated. |

We've had the muffler jet hot coated plenty of times. They normally do this by plugging the inlet/outlets and coating only the outside. We've also had drummers jet hot coated where we sent the muffler in AFTER the Gutting but before the assembly, with a wide open tail end. In that case, they did both the inside and the outside. Worked great. The can is NOT stainless, it is regular mild steel. Al |

Yes, I've had it done. I'd highly recommend it. |

Since we are on the topic of jet hot coating, has anyone ever had it removed form a SS race header? I finally got a race header with some burnt off spots. I've got a place that will do a electo polish on it but it has to be bare stainless. Brad |

Oh. Okay. I thought it was stainless. What I was planning on doing was getting it done after gutting, but before assembling the innards like you said. Any idea of the cost if I sent you headers and the can at one time Al? |

Check to see if you can weld on the coating, because the back of a drummer is riveted in. I don't think there was anymore welding to do on the one Al was talking about. |

Yeah. I actually am planning on making a stainless endcap with dual outlets. So it'll probably be screwed or rivited on. Thx for the advice though! |
