Before you do anything, you need to rule out a bad battery. The age and the frequency of use are usually good indicators. Also, if the battery is "weak", the Tender will still charge it up in a "no-load" condition. The load is what counts.

As said before. Make sure both ends of the battery cables are clean and tight first (both ends of pos. and neg.). Is the headlight bright and not dimming soon? If so it could be the solenoid or just a bad starter. It happened to me. Battery connections, then looked at solenoid and finally replaced the starter and it works fine. But usually it is the simple stuff and hopefully cheap.

Also could you jump it and rule out a bad battery after you clean the connections.

If it's not the ground and connections it's probably a bad battery.
Check the voltage while its NOT running. should be 12.5-12.8 volts.
Bike batteries lose about 1% of their charge each day when they're not used. A good battery bought a year ago can go bad if it's left to discharge and not properly tended. I keep mine on the trickle just to keep it up.
I had an issue where I thought the battery was new but needed a charge in a used bike I bought. The guy said it was new just last year and I believed him.
It wouldn't hold a charge - I finally tested it then bought a new one.

Farnsracin, I have the same thing with a bike I just bought. Not sure the age yet on battery, but looking into this issue. I will just keep connections clean and test battery (replace soon). I am already missing the ease of tending my x1 by comparison
