You can use the measurements to draw up the template. Scaled up the image should be 28.5cm long. I tried to post it here but I couldn't reduce the image size any more and keep it meaningful. A few people here have asked about the Hella headlight conversion. I've decided to post what I have here as a start and welcome any questions. I was going to perfect it and make a rev 2, but I never have time and I know never will. I don't need better than what I have. If Buellers want to get in touch with others doing the mod they could PM me or maybe post up here. With a bit of sharing this is an easy mod. Rather than try to make a bracket to replace the headlight bracket (P/N Y0438.02A8A) it is cheaper just to modify the part and bolt a plate onto it. The bracket is pretty cheap. You can clip off the headlight adjusting wings and remove the bumps. The bracket when fitted looks like this
There are a few things to correct. 1) the bracket doesn't need to go so high above the bolt holes. That way there is no need to make the cutout for the tilt switch. 2) A little has been trimmed from the fairing at the top left of the low beam. A slight adjustment to the low beam position would fix this. Low beam dips left in Australia so the template adjustment may be different for North America or Europe. (I looked at the bi-XENONS which have a mechanical shutter for high and low so you can run both on low, but they are super expensive, not street legal and would stick out a long way). There are links to a lot of info on cutout guides on the site. I run mine through relays. You can see them in the webbing of the fairing bracket above the plate. The measured improvement in brightness over running through the switchgear is 20% with one bulb on and 60% with both bulbs on. |
