So, I've finally decided that if I every want more kids, I have to get some decent riding pants to keep the heat of my Uly away from me. After riding with only jeans for 20 years, the jeans just don't cut it anymore. I'm sure that any riding pants I get will give me better road-rash protection than my jeans, so I'm most concerned with protection from the heat. I'd like to be sweat free after a long ride if possible. I don't know much about pants, so I'm looking for any suggestions... Any pants to avoid? | ||

I think I would opt for armored mesh pants to stay cool and protected (good airflow), then go with Odie's (Special O.P.S.) heat shields to keep the bike's heat off you. I love summer riding in mesh, and I don't even have the heat shields on the bike. | ||

Here's a silly idea I've been toying with to keep the insane heat from my header off my leg: Long underwear made from space blankets! Wear it under your jeans and no one would know any better. There's even direction on the interwebs somewhere -- for building a robot costume, but still! I'm going to try this out this weekend. Fame will soon follow! Randy | ||

Buell Adventure pants are pretty good and a decent price. I wear them in the summer with the mesh open and the lower knee vents open. Seems to work and price is good. | ||

here is a strange one, I ride with leg armor on under my jeans and only start to feel warm if I'm in stop and go traffic for over an hour. (or if i walk in them for a while) kinda like shin guards that cover your knee too, and WAY better ventilation. wear under your jeans and slip them into a bag at your destination. (I wear mine all day in class no biggie) for the most part nobody even knows they are there, I have even been criticized for wearing jeans and told I would rip my legs to shreds if i didn't buy some chaps and during the entire one sided conversation I had my leg armor sitting happy under my pants. Edit: the biggest plus is the cost, I only need two pair at 65 each and I can ride every day for a month without having to wash pants everyday. riding pants are great but with my daily rider I would need 7 or so pair at 80-110 bucks a pop (Message edited by delta one on August 17, 2009) | ||

I just wear Draggin Jeans and I don't notice the heat. They don't seem to conduct like thinner denim jeans. They also keep my knees warm when it's cold. I've got a few pairs of black ones and they are neat enough to wear to work. | ||

I just read about someone who sewed in a pocket on inside of jean leg, velcro across the top to close, and slid in some sort of heat shield panel - 2 layers of the stuff used by plumbers when making a sweat joint next to wood. here is a photo of mine,  I love 'em but they are a bit extreme for a daily ride its not that they are uncomfortable, I just want a lower profile under my pants.so I'll get these next.  |
