PLEASE can anyone or everyone out there willing and able please go to your xb and put your finger on your air scoop on the air box? I'm talking about the front corners of the air scoop on the air box cover. A month or so ago I noticed my air scoop wAs loose, it was missing a clip on the under side of the air box (the scoop, clip, and air box are all one part.) My air box cover was replaced by warranty. Now on my new air box cover the same thing has happened. I checked out a buddy's xb and noticed his air box has play at the same corner. this indicates that he has a clip missing too. My theory is that many people are missing clips on their air scoops but don't know it. like I said if anyone can push down on the scoop just to the left or right of the gas cap, see if it moves. My first one just moved up and down, and this one has even moved forward due to the place that the clip is missing. the air scoop is held on the box by these clips going around the outer edge of the scoop. |

I KNOW THIS IS BIGGER THAN THE THREE PEOPLE THAT HAVE SAID TO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! I NEED AS MANY PEOPLE TO RESPOND AS I CAN GET!!!!! |

Mine is fine. Kind of a trivial issue anyway, yes? From all the drama I was expecting that your airbox devoured a kitten or something. Side note: Please in the future avoid using all the extra characters and upper case in the thread title. Thanks. |

Trivial or not, the issue needs to be addressed. Buell needs to redesign how they attach the air scoop to the air box cover. Jeffroj "Changed my air filter last night, that piece is barely hanging on." - When I spend $11,000 I do not expect it to fall apart. Even metric body parts don't fall apart in 6 months. Mine was fine. What are you going to do with the info you collect? Chris |

Take some photos to illustrate what you are talking about. Post them here and send a note with copies to Buell. Done. All manmade products suffer from such issues at one point or another. Pretending that "metric" bikes are perfect is silly. I've owned and ridden too many to ever buy into that kind of nonsense. The folks who I've come to appreciate most here are those who report and then offer a solution. The ones who go all indignant, not so much. |
