My 07 XB12 STT has the engine light coming on at 3000 rpm and then goes off at 3300 rpm. The bike runs fine, it is just that the light comes on in that rev range. It happens in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. It has the stock ECM and a D&D muffler with the servo disconnected. The bike has done 10000 kms. It happens on the open road and consistently at the 3000rpm rev point. Any ideas? |

you should read the Check Engine Light trouble codes, either with ECMSpy, or if you don't have access, then manually (there's a great how-to post here somewhere - very easy with a straightened paper clip or a bit of wire to short between two pins of the ECM dataport.) This would give an indication, or somewhere to start looking. (Message edited by fahren on June 08, 2009) |

Do you get a backfire (out of exhaust not intake) when that happens? If so, the D&D is causing a lean mixture condition and it will not show up in ECMSPY. Either way, it it were me, I would load the Race ECM maps. |

Flog, were you able to check out the suggestions you got when you posted this a couple of days ago in the xboard? |

No back firing to speak of. I realised I posted this problem on the wrong part of the forum but have received a couple of good suggestions. Will give all ideas a go and see what happens. I don't have ECM Spy but will try to muck my way through. Thanks for the advice. So good to be able to access such expertise and experience with Buells. |
