While visiting St. Lucia last week, I saw this article in the local paper about a horrific, fatal head-on collision involving a Buell motorcycle, in which four people were killed. http://stluciastar.com/content/archives/3104 The article calls the bike a "Duell" but the accompanying picture shows one of the victims, Kenny Foster, on a Lightning. According to the article, this is what happened to Foster: The jeep slammed head-on into the motorcycle and subsequently smashed into the station wagon causing all vehicles, except the pick-up, to be airborne. Three persons died on the scene while one other was left to suffer and succumb to his injuries. Kenny Foster, with part of his lower leg on one side of the road while the piece attached to his body was scrapped clean of skin, flesh and fat. Other body parts of his were scattered on the scene. Bloodied and writhing in pain, he dragged himself out of the ditch and onto the road, all the time pleading with onlookers to tell him of Jonelle’s state. Jonelle was on the back of his red Duell street motorcycle. Fire officials, police and emergency personnel were on the scene mere minutes after the crash. Dressed in a blue shirt and blue jeans, both blood stained by the time officials got to the scene, Kenny lay watching as his parts were searched for and recovered. |
