I have an 07 xb9r that the fan fuse has blown twice. I discombolated the bike to get to the fan(oh what fun). Tested it the best i could. I connected the fan directly to a battery with a 10amp fuse between. it ran and didn't blow the fuse. check the resistence, it seemed ok. But when bike gets up to temp, pop goes the fuse. then i have to drive with that dreaded light on. any help would be great as i try to fix my temperary problem till i ride again.

only 2 possibilities here, the fan is pulling too much amperage, or the feed wire is grounding out. If the fan is fused by itself, you can get the bike hot, then remove the fuse and run an ammeter across the fuse terminals, fire her back up, and observe how much power it pulls when hot:you may just have a tired fan ready to go. If it's ok, time to start looking for a worn wiring harness somewhere.
