I've seen posts here about some people who used the rebuild kit for a Nissan, or some other car, to rebuild their solenoid on the starter. Does anyone have a part number and car model for this? Harley wants $56, and several have said they have bought them for $30. | ||

I went to a local auto electric shop that rebuilds starters and alternators. He had the parts separately, and all I needed was the spring and the larger contact. He buffed out the piston plunger and I was good to go for only $10. Beats Harleys $56, and all is good with the solenoid again. The hardest part of the whole job was dealing with the nut holding the wire from the battery to the solenoid. It would have been easy if it were off the bike, but things are pretty tight when you do it on the bike. |
