Mine was melted beyond repair i found out. i wanted to know if there was an upgraded part number or substitute connector to use in place of this piece?

it would be a pain to keep replacing this part.

The quick way would be to solder quick connects and use heat shrink and electrical tape. And of course just good quality quick connects would get ya home.

I just bought a voltage regulator because mine had gone bad and the new part number is actually a kit that includes new non-Packard style connectors that you're supposed to replace the old 77 with. So I guess there's been enough issues with these on 2003 XB9s that Buell has actually made the old style obsolete. The kit is also now a different part number replacing the Y03 with Y1302.02A8. So yes, you can probably ask HD or find these 2-pin connectors.
