I wanted to know if a stock "XB12" exhaust is the same as a Ulysses (XT) exhaust regarding fitment?

Additionally, does anyone know if the Buell Race exhaust for the XB12 will fit on a 2008 XT?

Thanks for any info.

Hi 818guy

The XB12X and the XB12STT have a different muffler to other XBs. My Uly parts book is from early '08 so it doesn't have the XT, but I'm guessing that the XT would have the same muffler. It has a longer tail-piece than the other XB mufflers. The actual fit is identical.

The Race muffler isn't recommended for the XB12X because the belt rubs on the right hand tip of the exhaust. Same reason that they made a different Micron for the Uly.

It is touch and go as to whether the lower suspension on the XT will clear the tips of the race muffler. You still have a longer travel suspension than the ones that the Race muffler was made for.

The other thing to consider is that the Race Muffler may run lean at high revs unless you can tune it. There aren't many tuning options for the '08 models at the moment.

Thanks everyone. Trying to decide whether to go for the Special OPS pipe (wait for an outright purchase - when available) or go with Jardine. My local dealership sells the Jardine so I'd probably buy it from them and have them install it since I've been reading about disconnecting a sensor.

The only thing about the Jardine is the re-packing and if that's something I want to do every 5k miles (the negative). However the Jardine does have baffles to add to "quiet" it down if I find it too loud (the positive).

*shrug*

Quick update. The dealership (actually mechanic) said since there is no ECM spy or tuning available for the 2008+ Ulysses bikes, he didn't recommend the Jardine or any other pipe for that matter due to the "non-tunable" ECM at this time.
