Hello Guys and Gals, A friend has this problem, he crashed and apart of a bent rim and bent fork it seem the braked that hold the front cylinder tot eh frame is broken, i'm not sure until i see it but i was wondering if the bolts are shot, to make new threads a bit bigger and use maybe metric screws, they quoted him over 4 grand, and i think they are quite over priced. Thanks, Miguel. |

Miguel, What bike does your friend have? The bolts are shot. You never reuse the bolts that mount the motor mount bracket to the front cylinder head. There is a VERY specific procedure that needs to be followed when installing the mounting bolts. It's in the Knowledge Vault somewhere in a Service Bulletin. Sorry, I don't remember which one. I'm sure someone will chime in with the correct one. I wouldn't recommend making the bolt holes bigger for a metric bolt. The bolts are a very high grade bolt that is not readily available. They are also a non-standard length (thread and shoulder lengths are very important for these fasteners). Use the stock bolts from a dealer. They are about $15 US if memory serves. Money well spent. 4 grand is a TON of money to do this. If you are halfway decent with wrenches, you can do it yourself. |

American Sport Bike has a billet aluminum kit that would work. It is stronger than stock, so I am told. It is about $300 I believe. I had a front bracket brake on me as well and silly me tried to use the old bolts and broke one off. That cost a good penny to fix. Don't be cheap like me, go new or upgrade with what is made for the bike. |
