As you can see below, I have a few minor issues with my muffler. I bought the bike at the beginning of the summer figuring I could do this kinda stuff once it got crappy outside. I figure I can weld up the holes and tab back on without too much of a headache....although I just moved and the 220 outlet I have access to is the wrong one for my welder. I'll have to make a little converter/jumper cable I guess. My big question though is...I thought there was supposed to be a mesh screen inside for the packing to slide over. I got a repack kit but I'm thinking it's going to be useless w/o the screen. Any ideas on that? Buy some mesh and form it then weld it to the tube in the muffler? The tube is only a couple inches long. Is it worth the hassle? The can is fairly beat up but I don't think I will have a very easy time finding one and I'm sure it will be way more than I want to spend. Pic of the can w/the exit endcap removed Exit end where the cap rattled for who knows how long. The holes are toasted Busted ear Short tube inside the can....mesh screen MIA...is there supposed to be one? |

I wouldn't put anything in the without the proper screen tube Buy some mesh and form it then weld it to the tube in the muffler? The tube is only a couple inches long. Is it worth the hassle? personally? no, I wouldn't. either roll with what ya got or get something new (or in better condition). I've been told the glass packing acctually absobs sound and vibes... not just sounds. and when you run a bike as noisy and shakey as ours for a long time, you can break/crack exhaust pieces. it's all up to you man, as long as it gets fixed right the first time so you don;t have the same problem |
