I just wonder what does the catch can do to the performance of the motor, I know it is supposed to keep stuff out of the motor but how and what are the advantage of it? Thank you for your patience I know a lot about airplane motors but not so much about cars and bikes mechanic and want to get better. | ||

The catch can itself doesn't do anything to performance. Its routing the breathers so that they are spewing their water/oil vapor cocktail somewhere other than the intake that improves the performance. The catch can is just to keep from making a mess on the ground or bike. | ||

You can also route the hose out around the oil filter and just let it hit the road, just a few drops anyway. | ||

May not improve your performance but may well improve the longevity of your sensors as they will not be getting covered with the oil/water mix in the airbox and the extra burnt oil through to your O2 sensor and the carbon build up in the cylinders. |
