Need Eprom (fuel maps etc.) for 05 xb9s with Jardine, K&N and air-box mod. I was trying to tune my bike, but I have no luck. So I need a base maps to start tuning from there. sebastianek23@gmail.com Thanks |

Your best bet by far is to find a competent tuner with a dynomometer, someone who really knows what he/she is doing and not just selling maps over the internet. I strongly suggest you talk to the good folks at American Sport Bike, Johnson Engine Technology, Cycle Rama, or Twin Motorcycles. They all know how to tune Buell motorcycles very well and have proven records to back it up. Talk is cheap. |

What gives Blake? I directed him there so he could get the base map he wanted for free. |

Once, a rider might put an after-market exhaust and air-cleaner on his motorcycle. And, it was simple to talk with other riders of similar motorcycles to learn jets, needle position, timing advance, etc. to put the bike in decent tune. Now, we have electronic carburetors & timing; why does this imply tuning information should be regarded as "for sale" or "on a dyno" only? (Talk may be cheap, but hearing so from a fellow running an online forum is surprising.) |

IMO every bike comes with a base map to start tuning from. Who isn't able to do it from that map will not be able to do it from any other one. |

Gunter - 100% absolutely, totally agreed. I would assume that he has the stock maps in his stock ecm. |

why does this imply tuning information should be regarded as "for sale" Why shouldn't someone be paid for their tuning work that they've invested their time and resources into doing? |

If one has something to sell, sell it. +1 If one wants to share information with fellow riders, share it. I agree with this, too. And, I wonder why there isn't a 'library' to openly swap maps for the more common setups/models/years? Seems like such a library, resource, would be normal behavior; a sub-topic to a knowledge base. Library maps will not satisfy needs of racers, perfectionists, and every machine & its variables. Library maps would seemingly be better than factory ECM, stock or race, with after-market exhaust, tweaked inlet/filter, and ultra-high performance spark-plug tips. Library maps would be risky, but they're MOTORCYCLE related; the whole deal's a death-wish. Or, so I'm told. Risk could be reduced with feed-back loop of user reviews, possible on a forum like this. Is these maps already out there someplace? Am I dreamin'? disclaimer: six-months experience with Buell motorcycles. I'm using a fuel-map published in ECM'spy manual (XB12R w/micron). Doubtless, my bike could be more finely tuned. But, I'm satisfied, bike feels stronger, and closed-loop AFVs are good. And, I was lucky to find a fuel map online from a reasonably reputable source. I wonder why someone isn't posting, "Hey, my '05 XB9 has a Jardine & those inlet/filter mods, too. It runs (blah, blah, blah). Want my maps?" (Message edited by aptbldr on December 09, 2008) |

Thanks for all replays guys. I am not looking to steal somebody else fuel maps (witch were paid for and developed during 100 hours of dyno tuning work-American Sport Bike, Johnson Engine Technology, Cycle Rama, or Twin Motorcycles etc). I am looking for a fellow enthusiast that already has "so-so" map that can match my bike, that later on can be tweaked by me. Thanks again. S. |

I believe the XOPTI site has a Race map for your bike, that would be a great place to start http://xoptiinside.com/downloads |

It would be a start, the map would be close to what he needs. I don't believe it is "Stealing someones map" I believe it is posted on the XOPTI site for people to use,not just look at. I guess I misunderstood. Mea Culpa |

Depends on the map used as the start. If it was something that was dyno tuned by Xopti and he's willing to post that for others to use that's one thing. However, from his website - What we provide is key changes as well as replacement data for the ecm files within the eprom. we have the stock ecm data we have race ecm data we have race data for the stock ecm layout we carry our own dyno and street tested xopti race ecm data we do data logging with your help to optimize your fuel needs to your bike If any of what is in bold is being distributed by him (assuming by race ecm data he is referring to the Buell race ecm which is a pretty fair assumption as that's how it was listed when the links were posted for direct download) that is in fact stealing even if it's just for a place to start. Pure and simple. |

So you are saying it is stealing even if there is no money exchange and the person who downloads it has already paid for the original of this when they bought their bike/ecm? |
Turk

Absolutely. even if there is no money exchange Completely irrelevant - remember Napster? It's not his data to share, money exchanged or not. If I steal your car stereo and simply give it away instead of selling it, is it no longer stolen? the person who downloads it has already paid for the original of this when they bought their bike/ecm? Just because it's electronic data doesn't make it any different than any other part. If someone where to damage any other part, they would go to a dealership and replace that component. Someone mucking up their ECM is no different. What the person paid for is exactly what you said - the original, unmucked up ECM. If someone slips with a drill and puts a hole in a tire should they be able to get a new one from someone over the internet that's stolen them from Buell's stock? |

If everyone applies "Turk's rule" and attacks & forbids HD-Buell information from what is shared here... I expect it won't require nearly as much time to browse for new posts. |

Witty retort. Nonetheless - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=3842&post=1205502#POST1205502 Again, follow the link, there is nothing there about something gone amiss. That is someone distributing something that doesn't belong to them to someone who would have otherwise purchased it from a dealership and that is a cost to the dealership and Buell. And regardless of what anyone's opinion here is as to what is being supplied, the data belongs to Buell and it is at their discretion as to how it is distributed, no one else's. If everyone applies "Turk's rule" and attacks & forbids HD-Buell information from what is shared here... I expect it won't require nearly as much time to browse for new posts. Not true at all. There has always been a wealth of information here related to Buell that hasn't gone over the line. If a person wants to distribute a map that they developed there's nothing stopping that at all and I say good for them. The topic at hand is related to distributing someone else's work. |

" If a person wants to distribute a map that they developed there's nothing stopping that at all and I say good for them. The topic at hand is related to distributing someone Else's work."(as quoted from Turk) } How do I develop a map from scratch? Do I have to build my own ECM,and write all the software myself? Should I use windows or Linux,or should I write my own op software. As using one of the premade op systems may be viewed as stealing. Have A Wonderful Monday! |

Start with your own stock ECM (or race ECM - IF YOU BOUGHT ONE), plug in ECMSpy and go to town. Download fuel and ignition maps from someone else IF THEY ARE THEIR MAPS TO DISTRIBUTE. Get a dyno tune. Seriously, why is this so difficult to understand? |

So let me get this right - You foul up your base setting and due to some computer glitch you have lost the backup you stored. You then would go to your local Buell dealer and tell them that you have been fooling with the ecm and will gladly pay for a new one/flash?!??! Pull the other one sport! Methinks the horse you are riding on is being used as a stepladder to clean windows on the Empire State Building. |

Following up on comment that its okay to post/discuss "a wealth of information here related to Buell that hasn't gone over the line." Would sharing engine assembly torque values cross the line? That data is "someone else's work" and it can be shared in text file; just like ECM-maps. |
