I just rotate it right and left a couple times and pull out. You could get some dielectric grease in a spray can and squirt a little in there. This will lubricate it for next time and somewhat water proof it. Plus you can use it on the rest of your electrical connections. Good luck. |

Hi Mike, I have the same problem and have lost a fair bit of skin trying to get it right. Removing the rear spark plug lead is fairly easy (hoping you don't damage the wire!). Putting it back on is a REAL concern. I had to change the rear lead just recently, and found the new lead to have a newer style plug cap with a moulded 45deg bend in the cap. I also use the dielectric grease to ease the fitment. The problem is.... I can't guarantee it's actually correctly connected to the plug? Love to hear from someone who has a remedy for this??? Cheers,Bill |

You need to remove the rider's seat and airbox cover (not the airbox). You then access the rear spark plug through the opening on the left side. You will now need a special needle nose pliers with a 45 degree bend at its tip. It needs to be a medium size (not small, not too large). You use the 45 degree needle nose pliers to remove the spark plug wire off the plug. Now you will need a spark plug socket with a swiveling head and an extension. You then, just guide the socket into the plug. It's really very easy if you have the right tools. Short of dropping the motor, I believe that is the only way to do it. |
