Is there a company out there that sells a housing, lense (maybe a projector?) or reflector to make a HID upgrade legal in the US? I thought I had seen some but when I look closer its a retrofit or a Euro Housing. (does the E-housing make the lights us legal?) it seems that the primary problem is the scatter from the beams, and I need to get on and off a military base and they can be quite picky at times. make model year even if its for cars or trucks doesnt matter I am just trying to find a company that does it... I know of only one company (hella) and they have very few housings but a few lenses for cars if you want to custom fab housings. I still cant find if they are US legal HID projectors or not. any help? (Message edited by delta_one on November 08, 2008) |

I researched the same subject a couple of months ago. Everything that I read said that the only legal HID light installations are those installed by the original manufacturer in this country, and there are no legal retrofits. |

http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaUSA/WebSite/C hannels/Drivers/Products/Performance_Lighting/Modu lar_Headlamps/Modular_Headlamps.jsp this is the best I found maybe these can be adapted for motorcycle use? click on either and it will show that they are "All lamp are SAE approved for street use" and "Xenon and halogen versions available in both 12V and 24V" any ideas on adapting these maybe? does anybody know if these are truly legal? |

The only way HID is legal for road use here in Oz is if it has an automatic levelling device in it. This stops the light from dazzling the oncoming traffic as you go over bumps and rises in the road. Usually a 2500 to 4000 dollar option on some high end European cars. |

does anybody know if these are truly legal? I not know, but I suspect technically that any modification you make is illegal. Whether anyone is going to care is a different matter of course. |

be not obnoxious and choose a white color temperature (4000 to 6000k) and no one should even notice |
