I am in dire need of a new muffler for a '98 S1W I'm not sure what I have now for a header/muffler but the rivets in the endcap are so far gone the whole thing rattles horribly loud. I was hoping to just get a V&H or something but their website doesn't list one for the S1W and the way my header wraps so far around, there is no way to make a V&H fit. Do I have a race header or is it stock? Below is a pic of my bike....HELP!

Race Muffler. Rebuild kit from American Sport Bike should fix it up, packing and rivets. Or just aluminum rivets from the local hardware store, is a cheaper and louder alternative. |

Hard to tell from that picture, but I don't see a front muffler hanger. Get one of the new inverted Y ones on there asap, or you'll crack your race header. Those headers are getting REAL hard to find, and are nice headers, so protect it. You can refurb that muffler, or you can modify an automotive supertrapp to work. Or get a custom one built. With the race header, that's pretty easy to do. Al |

No, there isn't a hanger up front...but there isn't a place for it to attach to either, unless I welded a flange on the header. Any other ideas? I went ahead and ordered the repack kit for the muffler. Hopefully the rivet holes aren't too far gone. |

Just got home and did a little inspecting of the header....it's already cracked Looks like it starts in the collector and goes up through the weld that connects the 2 pipes to the collector and continues into the upper pipe. Any reccomendations? Drill out the ends of the crack then start weldin' her back up? |
