Jim, I'd like to know that as well. Mine is an older model 101-200 for the 1340 Evo, which cam with the Mikuni 42, intercooler, Dyna 2000 ignition and cam. The models numbers must have something to do with their capacity to flow air at a particular vane geometry. I know for a fact that the guys raising the boost to a "higher" level than design parameters permit usually smoke the puppy by over speeding the turbine. To be honest, that's what I thought you were going to do. -JW:> |

Jim W - I would like to see a picture of your intercooler if you have one. I've recently adjusted my boost level from 15+ pounds to a more sane 7 pounds by changing the spring in the control unit with one I found at a harware store. I'm not sure how boost level is related to turbine speed. Before I was at 15 pounds at low RPM - maybe 4,000, so it wasn't flowing more exhaust to produce the boost. I thought it was a product of vacume actuating the control unit, which is regulated by spring pressure, to adjust the pitch of the vanes. Lower spring pressure does not allow the vanes to open up very far, thus limiting boost. I thought higher boost was a product of the pitch of the vanes, not the speed of the turbine. It seems to me that maybe the problem of turbine speed is more relative to putting to small of a turbo on an engine that flows to much exhaust, but I have not thought about it too much. |

Roc, When the vanes are all lined up,in a circle, thats when the turbine wheel will see all the exhaust. When the vanes turn and open they're dumping it off. |

Thanks Jim and Jim. FMJ - I think my unit has a plaque on it stating the model, I will look and let you know. |

Roc, Just got home, can't take a picture of the bike tonight this may give you an idea. You can look click on original image to see a closer view. I sketched this up a few months ago for FireManJim too cuz he was wanting a few dimensions. -JW:> |

I'm thinking about running these spark plugs in as the second plug in my heads, has anyone used the gapless plugs? http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/SparkPlugs/PlatinumPlus4/# |

Not really gapless plugs--like the ones old Kawasaki triples used with electronic ignition.Thesse look kinda like the v-gap,u-groove,whatever ya wanta call em plugs, only with 4 instead of 2 electrodes.I seem to remember Aaron did some dyno runs with something similar.Check the knowledge vault. |

I did a half ass search and could not find anything. Does Aerocharger or any one else make a turbo for a 02' M2. I ask only because in the next couple of months I know I will be going tdy somewhere. I plan on saving as much money as I can on this tdy and figure I should come back with $4 grand to blow. Yes I plan on spending all the money I will get out of this tdy on my bike. Could pay off bills but what fun would that be. |

Heres a link, good luck they're on a real long shoestring budget and I doubt they can supply anything right now. http://www.aerocharger.com/sptsbu.htm |

On that site they state they do not make turbo kits for 99' and later Buells. Do you know if that is still the same. I would not be back from that tdy until around May and that is when I will be looking into the turbo. |

To my knowledge, Aerocharger hasn't made a "kit" for a Buell since 1998 (was no market for the pups). That's not to say you couldn't find a used one and build your own system. -JW:> |

Jim W My guess,Aerocharger(Aerodyne) doesn't have anything for sale,no turbos, kits.I'm lucky I got a turbo back after 4 months. Different serial number.Different turbo?(They said that they change the number when they upgrade the bearings, isn't that goofy?) Maybe they could'nt even find the parts to fix mine. Grabbed a stashed one to shut me up? Something is wrong there and nobody is talking. If that is the case ,too bad, its a great turbo and has great potential. Somebody get some big money and Erik on the phone, its the next great thing! |

So much for my dreams of going turbo. For one thing I am only an alternate for the next tdy. So there is a good chance all that cash I was planning on saving and basically had spent in my mind on my bike is gone. But to make matters worse you all tell me nobody even makes turbos any more for the tube frames. I must have pissed off the Biker Gods. |

I will check my links ,but seems to me there is another source for Buell kits--or you can wait till I upgrade next year and buy my kit. |

Aerocharger has been around for quite some time now. I purchased my first one in 97. Like I said, there's wasn't a market for them. I talked to Jim Czekala (Aerodyne President) many times about marketing and WHY their units weren't selling. At that point in time he really didn't seem to care one way or another (at least that's the impression I got). He said something like, "if they don't want to buy a great reliable product, so be it." I know of no other turbocharger "Buell Kits" from any manufacture. -JW:>

Hill-Billy Motors makes one for the XB9S. I didn't see anything on their site for the tube frames. I was wondering if the reason why Aerocharger did not make any turbos for 99' and later models was because of where the frame support is located on those bikes. I am referring to where if you had an older bike you might put on a frame brace from Banke or somebody. Not sure at all just wondering. |

Jim_witt The only reason I brought up the frame brace was lets say I buy a used turbo for my bike, would it fit. My bike is a 02' M2. Now if not is it even feasible to modify the old turbo for my bike. Thanks for the input.

I still say they don't have anything to sell. I talked to a Honda dealer that advertises Aerocharger for his bikes and he has waited 5 months+ for 6 kits ordered.Has anyone besides me had any business(purchase of a new turbo, specifically) with them in the last year? |

Just a coupla observations, if I understand correctly, big advantage of the Aerocharger was no need for oil circulation system. If as a company they're effectively belly up, can another blower (Garrett T3 with Carbide rolling bearings?) be run this way, or is there something unique about the Aerocharger that I don't know about? Sgtbuell, I may have an Aerocharger for sale. I still haven't decided for sure if I want to sell it though. I don't think the brace is an issue on mine, but it's not Aerocharger's mounting bracket. They probably didn't make them for '99 and up models as it would have meant a new exhaust header.

Steve , A pressurized oil delivery would be easy. Take an aftermarket oil pump with an extra circiut, use that to scavenge the oil out of the turbo into the oil tank. The Areocharger was built to compete with then existing Garrett, so the Garrett should be the same size and configuration. Pete I should buy your turbo for a backup! |

Peter I would not be looking into buying an Aerocharger until around April or May. Thats if I even go on this next tdy in Nov. But if I do go tdy, when I get back I will be searching badweb. |

Can someone give me a quick class (schoolin') on displacement? If I'm putting say 3 3/16" pistons in my 1203cc, leaving the stroke alone...is it possible to get 89 inches based on head cc's? I've seen most 3 13/16ths are usually 88 inches. But one guy is saying his is 89 inches. Anyone? Aaron? Thanks, Lee |
