OK, I give up! The Hampton Roads Harley dealer has had my 9SX for over 2 weeks and they still haven't fixed an intermittent engine light problem. I have the following mods, (that they installed). 1. Buell Race ECM/Remap 2. D&D Exhaust 3. Open airbox intake When the bike runs, she's great but they had to correct a leaky rocker box cover and still haven't fixed the engine light that is on. They said there aren't any codes in the ECM so they had to contact Buell technicians to fix it. Any ideas from the BadWeb brain-trust? Thanks..Goody |

Goody, Every time my check engine light comes on, it is because I get stuck in traffic and the bike idles for a long time with no airflow. This causes damage to the active exhaust controller, which is located up near the airbox. The excessive heat damages the controller. This has happened to me twice now. Not sure where you live, but I'm in central Florida. It gets pretty hot here sometimes, especially in heavy traffic. Don't know if that helps you or not, but it is the only out-of-the-ordinary engine light issue I've experienced thus far. |

XB9 intermittent engine light issue SOLVED! Had to use my stock ECM to find the problem. It appears that the wiring harness to my Race ECM was rubbing on the nitrogen cylinder for the shock and chaffed the wiring pretty bad. CHECK YOUR WIRING HARNESS AND HOW ITS ROUTED. They are fixing it as I type this. Good thing because I was getting pretty pissed off. Im happy to note that my race ECM is fine but they do not give codes like a stock ECM will. So if you have the race ECM, hold onto your stock ECM. I'll be out and about tonight riding. |
