Call me cheap, call me a penny pincher, just don't call me late for dinner. I need to replace my plugs and wires. Since I am now on a budget, I need the best bang, well spark, for my buck. What sort of plugs can I get at a regular store; Walmart, auto parts, etc., and can one "make" new wires and what sort of specs would they need to be in? I have one Buell deal option on this island and I have NO intent on giving them any more of my money since they have basically robbed me already, though I do have a couple more Harley options. Have made a set of 8mm leads using Eagle one leads and cut down original end caps. Seems to work better than the stock items so far. | ||

Hi Guys, be careful using non standard components such as high tension leads. Without the correct resistance in the leads you don't know what potential concerns you may be causing with the ECM. The leads have to be a certain resistance (per the service manual) plus I've just replaced one lead and it really wasn't that expensive (AUS$15.00). HD spark plugs were again reasonable at just over AUS$5.00 each. The trouble was in fitting the rear lead! Boy, you need very small hands or better still a girlfriend with small hands. Went back to stock after my "custom" leads could not handle the heat. Big buell specific leads next time. |
