OK replaced the boot and rejetted using a CC Rider kit (as the gal at the bike shop I go to said there might be some problems with a jet) using stock 170 jet and new needle and seat. I got the bike to start after all of this and it leaked fuel from the bottom of the carb plus as I would give it some throttle it would start to die and I could see fuel coming up from the needle seat. I decided that the float height must be bad and adjusted the float height to what the bike shop said was normal. After reinstalling the carb the bike would not start and is still pushing fuel up through where the needle is seated. I am at a loss as to what to do with this and I am thinking off taking it in to the shop to get it fixed. I really don't have the cash on hand to do this so if anyone has any ideas about what to do with this let me know I'm really getting frustrated. |

OK more stuff. I readjusted the floats and reseated the air boot and the bike will start but runs really rich. Will still stall at about 1/4 throttle and doesnt want to stay running for very long at all. The bike also back fires through the carb and now there is black residue in the fuel that I see coming out the front of the carb. When it starts it has thick black smoke. I had a car that did this and it was tracked down to an internal problem in the carb so I replaced the carb. Short of replacing the carb what else is there to do? Also could this be a problem with the TPS or AE? |
