I wanted to poll all users for info regarding the "time" to rebuild the 1203 engine. I appreciate all replies. Thanks. |

27k on a 2000 M2 when I traded it in, and the motor was still strong (except perhaps for a very slow base gasket leak that would probably have been safe to just watch for a long time). 22k on my 05 XB9SX, and the motor has needed nothing more then fluid changes and a exhaust stud (caused by an exhaust mount bolt getting lost). A lot better then I can say for my Kawasaki. |

85000 abusive miles on the Sporty before the bottom end needed attention. S1 top end installed slightly used at 40000(?). Currently have 40000 miles on the S2 and running fine. (But it may get some hot-rodding this winter.) |

My first top end was a bit smokey at 10,500 miles. Another 10,000 miles and the flywheels had shifted enough to require attention, ruining the pistons and putting undue wear on the cylinders. |

I do believe I'll get 100K on my '02 M2 before it needs anything. Changing the fluids like a madman and properly warming it up before thrashing it and it's solid. |

27K on 2000 S3t, a valve stem cracked and generated destruction of a cylinder and bent rod. |

Around 50000 Km so far mixed traffic ( Autobahn, commuting, country lanes and mountain highways) on my bottom end and still going strong. Even with 220 psi of static cranking pressue,if I can believe that cheap gauge I used. Static compression should be around 11:1. Top end is the 1250cc Hurricane kit,a .025"-.035"squish and the 536 cams. Mostly riding in the 3000 to 5000 range when warm. And of course synthetic oil! Seldom needs more revs to have all the fun I need Ralph |

59,400 miles on a 06 Uly and it is down and out. Shop says a valve guide broke. The pieces chewed up the front cylinder/piston/etc. |
