"05 XB12S, de-snorkled, with K&N filter, and Special OPS tailgunner muffler... if I tie the exhaust valve wide open, will the race ecm provide significant power gains? Or is it best to just leave it as is???? Thanks for any help |

Since no one apparently has ever tried this, I went ahead and gave it a shot..here's my experience,,ONLY area that seemed to benefit was from 5-6.5k rpm..and it was a very small amount if any at all. May have been my "seat of the pants dyno" out of calibration...one thing I COULD clearly feel is that "herky-jerky" feeling at any rpm below 2,000 , same as on the other xb12s that I put the race ecm on (with a drummer) Also, with the interactive (Special Ops) valve wired open, bike was louder at lower rpm, from idle to 3,500 or so..Not a horrible loud....just louder than with the valve operating..Yes, I had the TPS set after installing and ecm and wiring open the valve...same fellow that did the re-set on my other xb12s, so I know that was done correctly....maybe I was expecting too much, I honestly think that may be the case...all I know is that is was smoother and easier to ride in town/traffic with stock ecm and the special ops muffler with the interactive valve operating... I have re-installed the stock ecm, and put the valve back in operation, and my Buell is easier to ride, and smoother at low rpm's. I like it better this way....was a waste of time, and $200.00 of my money for the ecm, but hey you know how it is----gotta try it and see..live and learn.... Anyone wanna buy a Race ECm with about 1.5 hours runtime on it??? sell it cheap... |
