Looking for a tall windshield for the Uly I found several posts for the California Scientific. I read glowing reviews so I bought one. The windshield arrived quickly and when I opened the box I was not impressed with the quality of the shield. First the edges looked as though they had been cut in the garage with a dull sabre saw. I read the one paragraph instructions and removed the rubber bumpers from the painted windscreen as the instructions said they were optional. I then took off on a 200 mile road trip. At the first fuel stop I noticed they windshield had a cloudy spot but didn't think much of it. By the end of the trip I found that the cloudy spot was in fact the windshield rubbing on the painted windscreen, in fact it rubbed through the paint. I emailed Mark at California Scientific about the problem and he replied quickly. I offered to bring the windshield by for him to look at in hopes of resolving the problem. He told me to come by and he would look at the problems and replace the shield if it was indeed that bad. On Monday last I took a trip up to West Sacramento and was sorely disappointed. First off Mark was little interested in my problem and more interested in trying to impress my girlfriend. We got a tour of the warehouse and once I saw the facility I could understand the problem. Bottom line, Mark told me to buy some touch up paint for the windscreen and gave me a piece of foam rubber to cure the rubbing. I was told that there was nothing that he was going to do for future shields because he just didn't sell that many for the Buell. So Buyer beware you have been warned take your 185.00 and buy something else. Don't be fooled by all the engineering jargon on their website. There is no engineering going on here this is just a chunk of acrylic cad cut, with a homemade laser that tracks too fast and then boxed and sold to the public. | ||

Hi Zebo I bought buells tall windshield and a lamilar lip for it and looks nice but the one thing I was looking for is to keep my shield clear of bugs and did not work for that, there is another windshield I have seen and can not think of the name but is a one piece unit and replaces the front plate and is black, I think it might be called C E Baily's not sure but looks better than what you have, I have seen them on ebay so maybe watch to you see one for sale. The Zero Gravity ST screens for Ulys are good quality. In fact all of the Zero Gravity stuff I've seen looks pretty good. ST screens are proving popular in Australia and the feedback has all been good. I was talking to a friend last week about his and he said it stopped all of the wind buffetting. He is pretty tall, and so he used to cop the weather with the screen at the standard height. (Message edited by Petebueller on June 21, 2008) | ||

Concur with the ZG comment, I've used one for almost two years on my '03 XB9S. No issues... Just picked up a Cee Bailey for my XB12XT, manufacturing looks solid, will try it on in a few months as the weather cools off.. More to follow... | ||

I've owned both the CEE Bailey and the Cal Sci. They are both better than stock but have problems Cee Bailey had buffeting and noise issues. Cal Sci had poor instructions (rubber rings optional?? Why what are advantages etc ) and rough edges galore. Neither allow me to ride with an open helmet and bugs still spatter on my face screen of full face helmet | ||

I picked up a Cee Bailey 12" on Ebay last week. It's a nice shield, well crafted, nice detail. It works fine for me- 5'8", sit close to the front on an 06 Uly with low seat- up to about 65-70 MPH. It is then that the wind hits me right in the forehead, and I lapse into bobblehead mode. I have no complaint about the shield, it just doesn't fit me. Consequently, it is for sale..... $90 plus actual shipping. See ad in BWB classifieds... | ||

Also, lowering Uly 1" gave improved handling and feel. Getting 50 mpg, added XT bags, bike near perfect for my tastes. Have extras: Uly black windscreen, black air box cover, and XT saddlebags + mounts still in boxes as well as standard and tall stock windshields I could sell at 1/2 retail. | ||

hi everyone new uly owner.I need to sit lower on my 08 xb12x and like to ride with a half helmet. Looking for a windshield to keep the wind off my chest and head so I can ride longer and get my feet flat on the ground.Been reading about a shorter seat and gaining an inch with an xt shock? Windsheild wise cal sci or cee baily any other options? Im 5ft7 and am itching to get on the hiway,pacific coast hiway is calling my name.Any help or guidance would be appreciated | ||

I like a Madstad adjustable windscreen & a Corbin seat, which I have put on my 06 12x has a stiffer seat pan which is good because it takes the riders weight off the ECM, and then you don't have to do the relocate ECM mod. Which has lowered my seat height and taken a lot of wind off my head and chest. Others may also suggest Memphis Shades side shields/wings to keep the wind from coming in from around the fly screen.
