Does anyone know if this is basically the same as an XB12 air box cover? As in will it fit? I see that the air holes behind the fuel filler aren't there like on a newer XB, but if it's the same other than that (underneath), I guess one could drill the holes in that area (unless the ring around the fuel filler is removeable).

The buell.com site says they're the same thing when it comes to fitment, and everything I've seen on the showroom floor leads me to think that's true. The only diff is the one you've already pointed out I'd say. |

If you do swap these, make sure that you install your old screen piece for around the gas cap. If you don't your intake air temp sensor will go bad. It will be reading the wrong "air temp and volume". This is what happened on my xb9sx. It is a pretty easy fix to change the screen piece. Cut off the melted plastic tabs with a razor blade, install the new one and melt over the tabs again to hold it in place. |
