All was fine until now. The belt has noticeable slack and the tensioner can be turned freely by hand. Suggestions? |

Fixed it. After I rolled the motor i just put the tensioner back on. I did not tension the belt by pulling on it as you tighten it up. .......Must be the old age....... |

Might be old age (the belt not mine Ha Ha), but after a spirited run last Sunday, the drive belt is decidedly slack. I can now move the center of the belt (exactly between the two pullies) through a one inch travel, where in the past I could barely get 1/2 inch movement. Idler pulley looks and feels tight and the front & rear pullies are also tight. The belt seems to have stretched? Oh! it's an XB12s, 2006 model with 18,600 miles on it (original belt). Any thoughts? |

my belt suddenly went loose. took off the front pulley to find out everything on the front pulley was stripped, the front pulley, lock plate, and the pulley nut =/ |

Rage, there was a problem with some S1s in that the splines on the front sprocket would shear leaving nothing for the countershaft to bite into. The teeth on the drive sprocket that contact the belt would be OK though. Is this what happened to yours? |

yeah basically the countershaft would be turning but nothing to bite on the front pulley then inturn wouldnt give me any power to go anywhere sat. im going to be putting on a new front pulley and adjusting the belt ect.. i have no clue what im doing as im no mechanic but i have been reading up on it and had buelltastic send me the class 101 :P hopefully all will go well! i need to get it back on the road. if you go to the old school buell section and look at my thread called "98 Buell S1 Lightning" i have a photobucket link on there with pics of everything, the front pulley, Sproket nut, and lockplate where all stripped almost made it home with the big when it started to mess up , guess i finially stripped it clean wheni was trying to make it up the hill to my house, had me and a couple of neighbors push the bike up the hill and up the hill to my house lol ohwell :P atleast i made it close to my house lol was going about 20 mph in 3rd gear lol |
