I rolled over 18K on my XB. I am wondering if it would be good PM to go ahead and replace the o2 sensor. The manual doesnt say when to replace it so I was wondering if anyone had experience in this. Also does anyone know the slotted socket size? Also what is the replacement o2 part numbers for Bosch? Sorry for the spelling..haha Thanks (Message edited by sgthigg on May 03, 2008) |

Personally, I wouldn't replace mine unless it goes bad. However not having experienced an O2 failure, I'd imagine the first clue would be the Check Engine Light staying on and setting an error code for the sensor. But this would probably be preceded by poor low speed driveability and poor mileage. |

Jason I believe that the O2 sensor is only used as an input during the closed loop operation of engine management. Somewhere around 3000-5000 rpm. If it is running poorly in that range then I would suspect it. You can get ECMSPY freeware or other software programs that will let you monitor the ECMs operation. If you have no fault codes and your bike isn't running poorly I would just ride. Know that there are cautions about using products on your bike because of the O2 sensor. Good luck Joe |
