Hi. New to this site , but have used info from here in the past. Great site. Have a 99 X1 run great since day 1. A race ecm race exhaust mod airfilter. Always serviced by AMPS in Auckland NZ. Did last service myself and on check for reset to TPS decided to try ECMSPY. For the cable (after much searching) I found one supplied by RC BANDIT(a Auckland RC model shop) - a Hyperion ECS program cable($29NZD). I piggy backed the connector onto the existing connector on the bike, ran ECMSPY and have reset my TPS AVT and downloaded maps from the ECM. Just had to post so others who want to try know theres an easy way , other than waiting for a cable from half way round the world. Cheers. |

Hi Tobycat, Found Ecmspy really easy to use following the Buell tuning guide avaliable with the software.TPS reset and AFV resets are really easy. Was able to view and clear historic trouble codes , run diagnostics , and download and save Eeprom and fuel map data. The Hyperion cable is clearly marked for Recieve(Rx) Transfer(TX) power and ground, I just matched the ones out of my connector, according to the manual, stripped a small section of wire behind the connector soldered and taped the matching wires then taped the usb connector to the side of the original connector. Only thing I havent been able to do is run real time data logging as the cable is timing out when I start the bike. Will play around today to see if I can get it to work. Acex1 |

Another hint perhaps: these ttl cables are often used in microcontroller programming, so have a look at DIY-robotic websites also. The Kiwis might want to register at the BDU, as I think the cable could be ordered there also: buellsdownunder dot com Regards, Gunter |

Thanks Gunter and thanks to all who have put so much time and effort into Ecmspy. Follow up on this cable- reading more info found the power wire doesnt need to be connected. Ecmspy is working perfectly through this cable.Real time data logging now working.Handy as the connection is a standard usb plug. cable info- http://rcb.shopnz.biz/catalog/advanced_search_resu lt.php?keywords=hyperion+cable&osCsid=85c02e6948d6 5a6cd076dc8bf44092c8&x=0&y=0 Cheers. |

Hi Tobycat, Im assuming the XB12 has the same 4 pin deutsch connector ,to connect to the ecm, as the lightning. You'd have to check a manual for which wires do what. If your not happy splicing the usb connector into your wiring loom you'd have to buy a deuctsch connector to connect the usb connector to your bike. http://www.deutschconnector.com/products/deutsch_d t_4-way_connectors.html Cheers AceX1 |
