I just purchased a used M2 with 9500 miles on it. I noticed a "scraping" sound when I was crusing real slow. In looking at the bike, I noticed I have a lot of free-play in the front rotor where the bolts and washers are (where the rotor bolts to the hub, not the hub to the wheel). I can move it back and forth. Is this normal or is it time to replace the front rotor? Justin@alexander-grant.com |

Justin, Do you mean where the rotor attaches to the carrier? Or where the carrier attaches to the wheel hub? If the rotor is loose on the carrier, it's time to replace it. No real harm, just noisy and a bit of excessive drag. Unless of course it's really flopping around. If it's the carrier at the hub, you've got problems that need looking into right away. There should be no slop at the hub. The carrier should be bolted tight to the hub. I don't recall which year the switch to the new style stainless steel rotor occured, it may have been 2000. Parts to rebuilt the old style aren't available anymore. A new rotor is around $100 or so. Brad |

I love the EBC steel rotor from American Sport Bike. Or just get yourself the updated OEM version from Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) or Tilley's HD/Buell. |
