Rode a new 2007 Saturday, and liked it fairly well. Price at Dallas HD is discounted to $10,000. They'll also sell me a new 2008, but they'll want me to pay MSRP. Additionally, I've seen several 2006 models on the used market for $8,000 or less. So, in choosing between these options, are price and condition all I need to consider? Or, are there subtle changes from year-to-year? If the year models are identical, it seems reasonable to buy lightly used and save money. Thanks! | ||

Just bought an 08 and my understanding from this site and other sources is that there have been several significant improvements in the 08. Increased steering lock,improved oiling,higher max rpm,better cooling,and heated grips are some of them. Pete | ||

Thanks, I had come to the same conclusions after doing some more online research. Went ahead and bought a new '06 that I found on the showroom near me, though, because they are taller (I didn't consider the cut-down seat an improvement) and they were discounted $4,000 off list  | ||

Congrats on the new bike!! Hope you enjoy it. My new Buell is sitting in the garage and will be for some time since I just broke my ankle in a dirt bike accident. I'm dying to ride it but doc says no. Pete | ||

The most difficult part is keeping it under 3000 RPM during break-in! These bikes run pretty rough below 2000, so that doesn't leave much to work with. I rode about 310 miles yesterday, sort of a loop around north Texas backroads. There were a few highway stretches where I had to cruise it around 3300, and I hit 4,000 a couple times during acceleration, but for the most part I just putted through the twisties at 3K and below. I have about 500 miles total now, so I guess it's time to start thinking about the first oil change. Marty |
