Oops... I just noticed that yours is an 08. I am not sure if the 08 uses the same closed loop up to 5000rpm, open loop above 5000rpm strategy as the earlier models. |

Well, I'm getting a new base plate in the "big bunch of parts I ordered", so maybe I'll put it back on, remove the RSS and run it in to get looked at. Got a 5K service scheduled, so why not? |

Here's the answer! I left everything the way I had it; (chopped airbox, rerouted breather hoses so on) Took it in to Fredrick Buell (MD) and had the ECM reflashed. I was told about there being a new map out (Thanks Joe!!!) and got it in. The flat spot is GONE! Like it was never there kinda gone. It pulls straight through the RPMs now. According to Joe, it also addresses fuel economy, low end grunt and the flat spot. There might possibly be other areas that it addresses, but I don't know what they are now. Just in time for Homecoming!!!! Yippie. I'm one happy hooligan!

Flat spot is back. I've been doing some rethinking on this and I think that I'm gonna try to move the air intake sensor to another location where it can get some cold air. (Bombardier) The reflash did wonders for it, and then it came back on the 2,500mi roadtrip I took. I changed elevation quite a bit, so I thought that once I settled back down in MD it would stabilize. Not the case though. Sure is aggrevating though. I'm also going to try to block some of the heat from the rear cyl too. I'll play around with it and post what I come up with. I'm also overdue for a 10K checkup, so all of this will happen after that. While I'm there, I might just have it reflashed again. |

I've been dealing with a guy from Ohio that has been able to tune an 1125 and 08 XBs. He does use ECMSpy but only the Eprom function. We tinkered with the AFV and by raising that number got the flat spot gone. But then it runs too rich at low RPMs. Aparently, it is a factory set lean spot to meet EPA rules. I haven't given up on it though. Anything I come up with I'll share here. |
