I picked up the Golan breather tank (http://www.golanproducts.com/breathers.html) and am running it on the frame down by where the rear master cylinder lives. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it basically has a sponge inside, and some holes poked in the top. Anyway, after about 100 or so miles, there is spooge everywhere. I am guessing that the sponge is not absorbing so well and the breather gunk is just spraying back out of the vent holes. Has anyone had experience with this Golan can? I'm wondering if it's a design issue, and if I should just bite the bullet and get something with a petcock and an actual filter on top like this: http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/760016/10002/-1/10475 Was hoping to keep costs down, the Golan was only $25 or so. Might have to bite the bullet. |

I have the same problem. I have a billet piece on my S3. It's small and fills up quick, blowing splooey out the filter on top. I make sure I drain it before I go anywhere. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/5624.html (Message edited by 5liter on February 19, 2008) |

So even with the filter you get spray? What do you have inside the can itself to collect the oil? Anything? |

Just the can. Filter on top, drain plug on the bottom. I get stuff coming out after about an hour of steady running. I check at a stop and lean over and look at the filter. It'll be foaming on the filter. It's full. |

I was having issues with my breather set-up; it would blow by the filter and spray the inside of my thigh. The catch can was topped with a cheap filter, so I changed it to a K&N and I re-routed the output. I hope that takes care of the problem... Here are a couple pics.

Heysoos: I've got the same can but located at a different spot. I don't know why I didn't think about doing what you did, but I'm going to do that now. Thanks |

I haven't road tested it yet. I see a couple possible issues though; my heel being sprayed, the tire gettin' it, or (maybe?) the brake...I'll you know what I find. |

I ripped it up today...was riding hard (like a Buell should be), grabbin' handfuls of throttle trying to get it to spurt and spray, but all I got was a little build up around the base of the filter. I didn't re-charge the K&N before I installed it and I know it had a few hundred miles on it and was expecting more blow by...but it looks like I did a good job! We'll see how it holds up. |

I think I might route mine up by the crank case breather. |

Well, so far it is working GREAT! No mess, no slooge. I've tried everything...now it's time to get her all polished up for the summer! |
