I know this subject has been discussed but this will be my first time doing this. Please help in plain english how I remove my rear wheel. I don't even know what tools I will need. My old X-1 had a regular axle. This axle doesn't even have a place to put a socket on it. I also only have a regular floor jack. Can this be done with what I have for tools.

Waldo, i just went through this over the past weekend. a floor jack should work. on the muffler are some markings (little triangles) for jack points. the rear one should get your wheel off of the ground, but make sure the bike is held so that it doesn't fall over. you will need an axle too (giant allen key) to fit inside the axle. i bought a kit from an outfit in florida. came with a breaker bar, 4 or 5 different size chucks, and a carrying case. remove the brake caliper (two bolts on the swingarm), loosen the pinch bolt (right side of swingarm, underneath where you can't see it) and unscrew the bolt.
you can probably get the right size chuck from a local shop.

I know this is an old post. but you guys know that there is what looks like a long nut with a cut in the middle of it with a snap ring, in your tool bag under the seat. That is the axle socket. Half of it goes in the axle, and you use the appropriate sized socket on the other end.

At least this is the case with my 05 XB9SX
