OK, if you look two lines down from this, all will see that I had a broken isolator mount on the front. I was able to remove both parts (remember one side was broke) with no problems. I had a local shop weld it till the new one gets here, thanks Andy. I looked over the hardware and did not see any problems. Well reassembly was going well up until I was using the torque wrench on the shifter side bolt going into the head. Turn, turn, CRACK!! I stopped and pulled it out, about 2/3's of the threads are broke off inside the head wall. NOW, I have not even turned the bike on yet in hopes of what I am hoping to read. Can I use an easy out on this problem, or am I better off going to a shop? Thanks. |

Hard to imagine any scenario where it was tight enough to break one of those bolts, but would be loose enough to allow an easy out to work. Bummer. |

The headache is now gone, and $1000 later I am now back on the street. I am so in the wrong business. I was charged $85 an hour to work on my bike by the local, and only, Buell dealer. Funny thing is, they could not pull the bolts themselves, they had to send it out. I was only charged $100 for that part of the job, but since it is 5.5 hour job to pull the motor and such, BIG MONEY!!! Oh well, the price we pay I guess. |
