Roger, I don't know if it's true or not but I'm NOT about to sell my narrows. I've had some great offers but they're are getting hard to get. I think e-bay is the best alternative. |

Is'nt there some law against discontinuing parts availability for vehicles sold in the USA for 7 years after production ends? The s3t was made till last year!!! I'm told I cant get a simple $3 replacement bushing for my exhaust the new part # that superceedes the old is a bracket that costs $90. There's more, try to get body parts at your local dealer......I've found only a few are available in primer only. I'm worried too. |

Don, Some dealers have more resolve than others. Tat @ American Sport Bike and some others sell a replacement muffler hanger isolator bushing thingie. I think a shop near me has a packet of them hanging on the wall. |

DK the law is something of an urban legend . . . the generally applied and followed practice (optional) applies to emmisions-related stuff, major driveline components, and like that . . .accessories (like bag lids, for instance) are often not included in that practice don't get me wrong, I'm not aying it's OK (cuz it ain't, clearly), but it's not illegal |

How about moral! I pitty the person who bought a $12k 2002 S3T and has been hit in an accident. |

Hey Mike, I was there and asked the parts people for that exact item, they said that I needed to whole assmebly. I was getting ready to cut down an isolator from a engine mount to fit the hole and by accident I walked past that bag hanging in the buell section. It's great they had it, but I could have easily never known. It is a 3rd party item so I'm not surprised it wasn't in the catalog. |

Also, I think I remember that the narrow lids weren't offered after '98. |

Dullorb, Here's a little parts counter hint: they have at least one copy of the A S B catalog behind the counter, sometimes you have to ask for it. And there are others as well that they'll pull out for you if they aren't busy. |

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but are the factory still making the wide bags? |

When I called Buell Customer service about 10 months ago, they said wide bags were still available. |

Thanks! I much prefer the look of the narrow ones, but frankly the wide ones seem much more practical.

The narrow lids were offered in the 2001 models. When I bought my 2002, it had the wide lids. The dealer also had a brand new 2001 that had the narrow lids. I had them swap them, because I liked the narrow look better. Later I found someone on e-Bay that had the wide lids (and the correct inner bags). So now I have both. One thing I have noticed is that the new parts manuals that the dealer parts department has is almost all NHA (Next Highest Assembly). I was lucky enough to buy my parts manual earlier, so it has a lot of the parts breakdowns in it. That is how I got the headlight plastic clips, and the fairing screw covers - I gave parts the number and they ordered them. In their manual there were no such parts... |

In November of '03 I bought a new "02 S3T. The bike came with wide bags. I had the dealer order the narrow lids and liners. No problem other than they are expensive. I now have both. normally use the narrow lids and change to the wide lids for longer trips. |
