I was givin a Wolfman Explorer tank bag. It was missing the straps and map pocket, but it was free so I took it. I later found out that it was a $160 tank bag! And had the large side pocket kit with it, another $40!!! I called up Wolfman, and a week and $15 later, I had new straps and map pocket. This thing is massive! But fits the Buell's tank very well (it's designed for BMW GS's or KLR's, with very contoured tanks) It holds 26 liters, plus the 3 side pockets. It's made very well, and has many features inside (small pockets, clips, D-Rings, etc.)
Gas cap is accessible without moving the bag!
This one shows the size a bit better:
To make it hold its shape and look full, I stuffed it with some drop cloths... Some drop cloths! All these fit in the main compartment! And it Expands even larger!!!
Now I'm in the market for a good (large) tail bag. I really like the MotoFizz Camping Seat Bag from Aerostitch: Both ends expand, and also open, so you can access the inside huge pocket from the large top opening, or either end. I instinctively go towards the large size... but after seeing pictures of it on a bike, I'm thinking the Medium would be more practical. Large: Medium: Anybody have other suggestions. I'd really like to find something less expensive than these Motofizz ones @ $140-160. I have a Ventura rack, although this bag will mostly be on the back seat, with the tent/sleeping bag on the rack. EDIT: Sorry about the typo in the subject line. (Message edited by mikef5000 on November 21, 2007) |

Bought the Chase Harper super sport tail bag on sale, holds a full face helmet, jacket liner, & more than I need. NOT waterproof without cover, and Bungee's are long enough that I hook the front ones to the under seat straps on my Cyclone, and the rear ones around the turn signals. http://www.chaseharper.com/TailTrunks/TailTrunks.h tm http://www.oxprod.com/ I'm using their Humpback tank bag. Darn decent. Too small for a full face helmet, though. looked at but have not tried.... Like the look of these a lot. http://www.revpack.com/motorcycle/seatbags.html http://www.revpack.com/motorcycle/products/TourPac k.html http://www.eclipseluggage.com/luggage/300.html Look ok, but pricey. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tail/index.html http://www.rka-luggage.com/A03%20Seatbags/rearst.h tml Basic. http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?produc tid=140&cat=32 There are no doubt more out there. Also check out this. http://www.helen2wheels.com/ Her Pack Straps, rock! ( I've ripped off the design for my bottom straps on my ancient Vetter saddlebags. ) Camping/rainproof designs. Also, check out American Sport Bikes, ( a Badweb Sponsor ) http://www.americansportbike.com/ They've got the Rack system bags. |

Wow, thanks for the links! Here's what I've found, post up if you've got an opinion! Ventura makes this huge bag (63 liters!) But it's likely to be expensive. I've emailed Al to see if he can get it (hopefully in black) and how much. It's the only one that's not wide enough to fit my tent inside. Then I saw these Rev Pack Tour Packs, and this large one might be perfect! I'll have to measure up the bike to see how well it'd fit. At only $105 with the rain cover, it's hard to pass up! Down side is it will only work on the rear seat, NOT on the rear rack if I want to have a passenger. Size comes out to 69 liters. Wolfman makes a similar bag: Extremely high quality and materials... to go along with a near $200 price tag. Awesome bag, but too much for me I'm afraid. It comes in all black, and holds about 61 liters. I still really like the Motofizz Camping seat bag: Medium is 44 liters expandable to 61 liters. Large is 86 liters expandable to 109 liters. Good lordy that large one is huge, I'm now pretty convinced the medium would be fine. |

If the Revpack tourpack turn you on, try.... http://www.revpack.com/motorcycle/products/Excursi onPack.html read the article hyperlinked in the page. Also one of the nice things about Buell's, is you don't need to run the tiny high pipe saddle bags. You can run a large rectangular saddle bag, and have no exhaust issues. My old Vetter bags work fine. ( although I am thinking of new bags, I have 3 different brands, tank, tail & saddle, all different colors....LOL ) I notice my Oxford Humpback ( silver ) I have set up forward of where your's is. |

I saw that Excursion pack, but it's the same size as the tour pack, for twice the cost. It does have some nice additional features, but not enough for me to justify doubling the cost. I have a large set of nelson rig saddle bags, but they can easily swing in and hit the tire, and also all of their weight is resting on that thin plastic tail. I noticed some new stress cracks shortly after I used them. I'd like to get away from using saddle bags on this bike all together. The small tank bag I run all the time (except when I'm touring) is also further forward than this large (touring) tank bag. This large tank bag has a very contoured bottom (made more for dual-sports), and only fits correctly if I have it this far back. Works for me though! It doesn't affect my riding position (barely), and I can get the gas cap off without unbuckling it. |

This ought to be an accurate statement.... Wolfman was the source of the Pro-Series stuff from the tuber years. Thus the more than coincedental looks and features. |

Woo Hoo! The girlfriend bought me the Large Tour Pack for christmas: It fits on the bike very well, and the inside is massive. It will easily fit my small tent and sleeping bag, compressed sleeping pad, small tools, and some changes of clothes. Pictures will come.... eventually. |

Hey Mike, Is there a limit to the amount of weight you can put on that rear frame before it turns into a lowrider? |

That is one nice-looking Tourer. One reason I like saddle bags is they lower the weight (center of gravity) a bit. You only forgot the rubber mudflap to hang from back of the front fender. I got the handguards too, but still trying to fit them onto my Blast bars, which are narrower by an inch on each end.? |

One reason I like saddle bags is they lower the weight (center of gravity) a bit. I'm trying to stay away from saddle bags (see my previous reply on that subject... above) and I think this style bag is a GREAT compromise! Is there a limit to the amount of weight you can put on that rear frame before it turns into a lowrider? That's what adjustable rear shocks are for! |

No. Really. Is the subframe limited to a certain amount of weight? |

The way I'm looking at it is: my bag may be 50 lb's at most, while the gas and tank on the rack may be 25. That's 75 lb's total. A passenger on the back seat could easily be double that. |

If you run a strap from the passenger peg mount to the seat frame, back near the fender, it keeps the saddle bags from swinging into the tire. Normal riding with my Vetter Bagman saddle bags has them swing Out because of the airflow. I keep meaning to set them up Under the plastic tail piece, but over the tubular seat frame. Downside is it makes it a semi permanent install. I picked up a tip here a few years back, use rubber washers above & below the plastic tail piece on the tiny bolts that hold it on. It reduces cracking there. |

I'm using the large MotoFizz tail bag with pellican 1550 hard cases and I'm ordering the wolfman explorer tank bag today. I'll have plenty of room for anything I'll need. I currently have all my tent and sleeping stuff in my motofizz bag preloaded. All I have to do is pack cloths and a few extras and i'm ready to go. |
