hello everyone! I am about to change the front cylinder exhaust port gasket on my 99 S3. Is that a large 'C' clip that I bought? I assume it needs to be put over the pipe past the bulge so that the flange can press the pipe into the gasket when tightened. Is that correct? It seems like a silly question maybe. It is kind of a poor design if you ask me. The original "clip" came out in two pieces, obviously broken. if anyone has changed his gasket and can tell me for sure it will be appreciated. Thank you... |

You are correct, the ring fits loose on the pipe and the exhaust flange pushes on the ring. |

Roger If I remember correctly the collars has a relief cut into one side to keep the ring expanding during fitment. joe |
