Henrik, I'm interested in putting 7/8" clipons and XB switchgear on my S2. If you feel like it, e-mail me and we can talk it over. I need to take a look at the signal switch on the new stuff, but I think I can make it work with the S2 signal box. Just have to change it to a momentary switch. The rest of the wiring shouldn't be too tough. As for clipons, I have a lathe and mill. I'll cheat I built the clipons I had on my Ninja 250 and 500 and they worked better than anything else I've seen, so I feel confident in making my own for the S2. |

Steve, I've been studying the wiring diagrams, and from what I can see, even the standard new style turn signal switch ought to work (famous last ...). In the description of the S2 turn signal controller, they mention the option of holding down the turn signal switch, which will keep the signals going for as long as you hold the button. The new style switch provides constant power while on, so you can either leave it on and hit the button again when it's time, or turn it on and immediately cancel again, which ought to let the self canceling signals do their thing. The rest of the wiring seems to be comparable, except of course if I misread things and power/ground is swapped etc. I've shot you a mail with my numbers. Give me a call. Henrik |

Hello Everyone I have been out for awhile but I am back. I have a question regarding a price of $134 at the dealer for part #49092-01Y which is the new shifter assembly. The MSRP on Buells website is $99. I know this is subject to change but I want to make sure I am not spending $35 to much. Thanks in advance |

FMJ: I've been looking for 1/2" front master cylinder for the 1" bars, but even Drag Spec doesn't carry anything like that. You mentioned seeing one?? Henrik |

I have a 2002 S3T bought new in July 2002. It has 3500 miles on the clock. Tonight the shifter toe peg came off. Luckily I was close to home and I found the peg. It does'nt appear to have any loctite on the threads. Is this a common problem or do I need to pack a second toe peg in the hard bags? |

5liter, Not a common problem. You are the first I've heard to have one unscrew. I've heard of them breaking on tip-overs, but not unscrewing. |

I made my own shifter peg. I used a 2&3/4 inch threaded bolt and a lock nut. It does'nt look pretty but it's getting the job done. The local Buell dealer was no help. They have very little experience with Buells and no parts to speak of. |

Hi Rick a Did'nt need one in a couple of weeks, I needed one right then. I was in their parking lot with a long ride home. The hardware store solved the problem. I hope this does'nt happen to anyone else. Seems kinda weird that a toe peg would fall off. Oh well. Lesson learned. |

Two weeks ago I put a set of Telefix Pro-fi clip ons on the M2. I bought em from a guy that had em for sale on the classifieds. To all you folks out there who are looking for the ultimate clip on, in my humble opinion - these bars are awesome. They adjust any way you want them. I had Crossroads clip ons before and was not happy with the down angle. Too tough on the wrists. Hopefully one of these days I will get a picture posted. |

I was putting new handle bars and grips on my bike tonight. When I went to put the left grip on I realized I needed an adhesive. The service manual calls out an HD adhesive. What can I use? I was thinking of going to the hardware store tomorrow and buying a spray adhesive. Will this work? Thanks |

Did you possibly interchange the left and right grips. Typically the right-hand/throttle side grip has a larger inside diameter to accommodate the added diameter of the throttle sleeve. Otherwise any of the suggestions above will work. You can also tightly wrap safety wire in three locations along the grip. Looks very racerish. |

What's the best throttle "lock" for a M2? For grips, Hairspray (Aquanet is good) is near ideal, lubricates the grip on, then holds fine. |

>>>What's the best throttle "lock" for a M2? A Condom. Non-lubicated if you can find it. Typically 2 for $0.25 and you can keep the spare in your wallet in case you need it late some night. Place it between the moving part and the still part. Works great. |

Careful with the hair spray - some are water soluble. If water seeps in (rain) you could be in for a surprise. I use alcohol to lube the grip when I slip it on, and then safety wire them. If you bend the tag end 90° a few mm from the end, you can then push/bend the tag in towards the grip and bury the sharp ends in the grip itself. Henrik |

Which reminds me of the classic Texas Aggie story wherein the Aggie, concerned about HIV and other STD's, is discussing..um..preventative measures with his doctor: Doc: "Do you use condoms when you have sex?" Aggie: "Yup!" Doc: "And do you wash up before and after?" Aggie: "Yup! Scrub it down with Lysol and diesel fuel!" Doc: "Well, it sounds like you're doing all the right things. Just choose your partners carefully..." Aggie: "Partners??" r-t blake, I sure miss that Texas flag thingy... |

S2 Kick stand fix: Rigged a temporary solution for the too short spring. The permanent fix will require a new spring. But for now this will work. I will find a spring that fits later. And I now have a lovely lean angle - well the bike, not me: Well worth the effort. I heated the kick stand with a regular torch with MAPP fuel. The torch was *just* able to get it barely red. Soft enough to bend though. For the bending I used my new bench vise and at first a non-marring bronze hammer (brain fade) - of course it took off the powder coat . So if you do this, use the dead-blow hammer. Henrik |
