FYI, Here is my TT with Buell detachable bags. They are not recommended(no passenger pegs) but works good and secure. After two months bags are not waterproof but pretty water resistant, they do keep the dust out. The Buell supplied reflector relocators look bad(just angled steel). So I just relocated the reflectors to the bags with super glue.  | ||

Man they look tiny. How are you liking the extra suspension that the tt offers? I love the bike. Wish the city-x that I have could be changed with that suspension. | ||

I just installed those bags on my XB12Ss last night. My take is that they will be good for weekend trips and practical for local shopping while looking good and not interferring with the bikes performance. I wish you could get an 8.5 x 11 inch text book in there, but no joy. I am not really sold on velcro so I am curious on how the straps will hold up over time. They seem fine right now when new and there is nothing in the bags. If they do not work out it should be easy to sew on some "D" rings and use straps. I find it slightly difficult to get the seat on and off, the straps interfere a bit and have to be prepositioned carefully, but in the end it work out OK. I plan to spray the bags with "Scotchguard" to help water proof them, but I doubt that they will ever become totally waterproof in heavy rain. A plastic pull over cover is probably the best solution. I agree totally with you on the look of that side reflector, ... just plain bad. Your solution looks good. |
