Over this past winter I re-ringed my '99 x1 and had a valve job and seals done. Ever since I reassembled it I have had oil coming out around the pushrod tube bases. I have the NRHS bases (which didn't leak last year) and are still in great shape, no gouges or anything at the seal location. I have had the tubes out 14 times now trying to get it to stop leaking and my local Buell stealership couldn't fix it either. On this last attempt I used 3m quick fix adhesive to hold the seal into the bases and rode it again. It built up so much pressure that it shot oil all the way up to the head this time. (it usually just leaks out around tubes.) I have checked compression which is good, and have redone my breather system every way imaginable and it still leaks. The breather system does have air coming out so I know it isn't plugged. Is there a problem with the oil pump that it is building up too much pressure? Did the head guy screw something up? Help, I'm at my wits end. I don't even have 2000 miles on it yet this year and have missed many trips with friends.

Thanks very much in advance b/c you guys always help me out.

You should NOT be building up presure in the pushrod tubes.
The NRHS hold down's are great but a bit of a pain to install. You MUST get the bottom seals in perfectly flat or you will have problems.
I use carb cleaner on the pushrod tubes, the hold down clamps and the seals to remove any oil. I then dab my finger in fresh oil and put a very thin film on the top of the tube.
I insert the seal into the hold down then slide both over the tube.
When you do the other tube, youhave to be very careful to not disturb the one you just did.

Believe me I know how much of a pain they are. I have talked to the guys at NRHS and they have told me exactly how to do it. That is what I do every time and they still leak.

I do still have the same lifters in there.
