I have a friend that used to work for a suspension manufacturer, and he claims in order to get correct sag measurements the damper settings must be turned to full soft. According to him this can make as much as 10-15mm diff. in final sag.

Has anyone else heard this before? I've no reason to doubt him, but no reason to believe him either.

Rather than turn it to full soft just compensate for that amount, when are you expecting to run in the big leagues, if your not then dont lose sleep over it, it wont make any difference to a street rider.

You can average the laden measurements by taking at least two mesurements after you compress/release and extend/release. Ths will help account for stiction and differences in damping.
