Anybody have any experience with that lightweight aluminum front pulley from Baker Drivetrain? 2 lbs lighter than stock, aluminum, $170.95 from Drag Specialties (1811-0006). Anybody use them? Good, Bad? Worth the money? |

Brandon I got one on the S1 just over 2700 miles on it. No sign of wear yet. It was installed with the zippers 1250 kit and 55 tooth rear pulley so I'm unable to tell if the weight makes any difference in performance. But lighter weight means less wear all things the same. Oh, mines a 26 tooth. Joe (Message edited by bad_karma on January 22, 2008) |

Did the original come in at 27 teeth? and if so how does the 26 "feel", more acceleration? easier wheelstands? |

Depends on the bike..Some came with 29, most, 27. Stock rear is 61. Stock ratio for a 27 tooth front is 2.26:1, stock ratio for a 29 is 2.10:1, ratio with a 26 tooth front is 2.35:1. Reduction with a 26 is about 4% for the 27, and about 10% for the 29. Yup, greater acceleration, easier wheelies, less top end, higher revs at highway cruise. I'm sure they don't wear as well as steel, but until the belt eventually wears through the hardened outside surface (likely hard anodize), it'll be fine. But the front pulley does have a higher wear rate, merely because it sees more tooth mate/demate cycles. Al |

How do you adjust the belt tension? |
