I just found out my belt has two holes in it, but the manual says only replace if holes are on the edge. Has anyone put a lot of miles on a belt with holes in it? Should I replace it ASAP? If I order a new one, how does it come packed? Could I store it in my saddlebags/trunk as a spare? |

I would replace it but keep the old one as a spare. How many miles on it? The original version belts are supposed to be replaced every 15k miles. Don't know about the interval on the upgraded '03 belts though. These belts come with a warning not to twist them or bend tighter than the front sprocket diameter. That makes it kinda hard to pack on a bike without risking damage. Difficult but not impossible. |

That 15K replacement advisory is a crock of sh!t to get you to buy more belts. One of the bikers at my local watering hole had over 100K on his Harley Low Glide before he replaced it! KK |

Not necessarily a crock WRT '03 XB's because they are thinner and of different materials. '04 and later belts are tougher and, I think, recommended for 25k service. But I hear ya WRT BT belts. I replaced the belt once on my Sport Glide in approx 250k miles and that was because it had a gravel-sized hole punched in it. |

Kerwin The belt on my 96 S1 broke and feed off right in a middle of an uphill hairpin in the WV mountains with just over 20,000 miles on the odometer. Joe |
