I have a 2003 XB9S that is due for its 5000 mile service. I plan on putting SYN3 in the engine and SYN3 or Formula+ in the primary. Which would be better for the primary SYN3 or Formula+? I have read a good many threads on this stuff... and I feel like I have been running in a circle lol. I know that other people use Mobil 1, Amsoil ect... but I have had a hard time finding that stuff around my area I went to 6 different places looking for Mobil 1 V-Twin or something comparable and the only place I found that had any was at WalMart but they only had 2qts in stock..... So I give up I can easily get to the Harley dealer and get SYN3 and Formula+ so those are my only 2 choices | ||

Formula + works great. BTW, you don't need v-twin oil, you can use Mobil1 15w50 as well (as long as it carries the API "C" rating that you need). Don't feel trapped into just having to buy v-twin oil. It also works well in the tranny and so does Syn3. (Message edited by sloppy on June 28, 2007) | ||

I tried Wally world they did have Mobil 1 v-twin but they only have 2 quarts in stock I asked if they had anymore in back or expected any more to come in soon and they said no. Is mobil 1 15w50 a synthetic oil? Not that it matters much at this point I already Got some SYN3 and my dad has a quart of Formula+ left over from his bike. I was just curious which I should use for the primary SYN3 or Formula+ | ||

Draxel_teg: Did you buy the bike new? I saw one for sale on 3rd street in Port Clinton that looked just like the one you have. If you see an old gray haired guy on a Black S3T with PM wheels running around the area, that's me. | ||

No sense throwing away good oil. Use the Formula+ and then use the SYN3. | ||

Hey 5liter I have seen you around town a few times. I never would have thought I would meet someone from the Port Clinton area on here  . I saw the bike for sale on 3rd street just about a week after I bought mine. I thought about stopping a few times to see how much it was selling for but never did. | ||
