I'm curious about the H.P. figure claims by differnt builders we see. I have an 88" X-1 converted to carb, 45mm, Andrews 600 cams, force intake and pipe, twin tech ignition, I run about 100 tq. and 110 h.p. Promient head porter stage 3 work. I know of 5 other 88" bikes in the area, with 4 differnt pipes, have tried 5 differnt cams, local and nationlly know headwork. All are within 10 h.p. of each other and no one broke 120. Compresion runs between 10-1 to 11.5-1 on these bikes. I see claims of 125 for 1250's and 136 for 88". But nobody but the builders ever post a dyno run showing that. Does nobody ever want the builders to get that power from engines they build for customers? Just food for thought. We run a dyno here, and I know there are tricks, but our numbers are honest I believe. What do you think? (EXCUSE THE SPELLING) |

Chris, I've personally witnessed an 88" Buell run into the 140's in RWHP at the MMI Daytona Dyno Shootout and that was on a Superflow dyno which is well understood to under-report by about 10% compared to Dynajet results. On a Dynajet, that bike was running close to 160 RWHP and was running lean up top too. Call the folks at Cycle Rama to ask them how you can obtain an enhanced street-oriented tune for your 88" engine. They are the ones who built the 160 RWHP monster described above. It used stock cases, and they didn't last forever. But good gbrief, who can blame them? Poor things. LOL! I think for the street and with stock cases, if you don't live up in the mountains where actual HP is reduced 10% or more, it is risky to aim for over 110RWHP on your Buell as a reliable street machine. Also, some shops post results that run the engine to 7,500 rpm which is not something you would want to do on a street bike very often, especially in 88" form. If it were me, I'd revel in the massive increase in performance down low and through the midrange. Yes? Post up a copy of your dyno chart. I'd like to see it. |

My 88" ran 121 hp on Aarons dyno in Colo. Had Redshift cams,Mik 42, stage 3 heads, but had a set of tuned open pipes, not what you would run on the street. Could have made more if I went with bigger cams, more compression, and a 45 Mikuni, but I was still concerned with driving that bike on the street. No longer a concern,LOL. |

Here ya go a 130+ hp buell. This was with the lower compression Wiseco slipper piston and 585 reshift cams. I have since put in 643's and the 12+ slipper pistons. Have not Dyno'd it since. My friend hit 137 with no ign changes and just like 5 pulls. Were rushed off the Dyno... I have not been on here for years... I have been off Flattracking for the last 4 years. Might venture into Drag racing the beast this summer. It still gives me chills when I ride it. Torqd If you have any questions let me know. Hows it hanging Blake... Long time no see!

Hey Frank! Darn great to see you back on BadWeB. I rode that bike! I had no idea you were racing. Come on man, tell us some stories of your heroic exploits on the dirt oval! That's something that I absolutely must do. |

Propably since the shock doesn't mount on the bottom of the motor and it hangs from the heads and back. It requires custom cylinders. We used axtell finless |

I guess what I meant to say is what are people getting out of 88" motors that live on the street, day in, day out. I have 110hp/100tq two yrs on the road, reliable as a hammer. 88", andrews cams, 45mukini, stage 3 heads from Nallin. Thanks |

I'm looking hard at an 88" kit for a basket case 99' M2 I am buying. I'm looking for a really torquey set up. Which cams are you guys liking the best? |
