My son&I are going to alaska on Wed. I have read in other posts that the idler pulley bearings are easy to replace. However the shop manuals for my xb12x&my sons xb9 says they are not. Any one know for sure? My son's xb9 has 12k on it, so we thought we would replace the belt, the manual says to replace idler pulley also. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Have fun on your trip! I don't know the answer to your question. I don't hear much about idler pulleys here. They seem not to break much. Assuming your son's XB9 is an 04 or later (check me on this) the belt and probably the idler pulley for your bike and his are identical. It might work out better not to replace his belt, but to carry a new belt and pulley as a spare. That way if either of you need one, you have it. |
