What could have caused this? I was just shifting through the gears on my way home when suddenly all power was lost. I should mention that I have been in Myrtle Beach with the cooling fan running constantly, due to being in heavy traffic for Bike Week. I just put a new battery in 6 months ago. I checked all the main fuses and they're fine. The speedo and Tach are stuck in the same position as they were under acceleration. Any suggestions? |

By the way, I already checked the battery connection. |

Need more information. Did all the electricals on the bike cease operation too, or did the lights just go out or...? Try toggling the kill switch and the ignition key. Check fuses. Check wires/connections at coil. Does fuel pump cycle and run when you turn on ignition? Check wiring harness for chaffing and/or contact with sharp edges. |

When you try to start the engine, how does it behave? Does it crank normally, or does it spin the engine faster than normal? |

Sounds like the Bermuda Triangle Syndrome -- suddenly losing electrical power and instruments go whacky! Good thing you didn't disappear. Well, you were in Florida... If this is the Firebolt, under the seat there is a 30 Amp main fuse coming off the battery positive terminal that needs to be checked. Without this, the bike is virtually dead. |

Blake, All of the electricals failed. As if the bike has no battery. Sparky, I will check that main fuse today. Thanks. |

Same thing happened to me, it was the fuse. Tiny crack, barely visible, but enough to kill most electronics. Quick way to tell is: if you turn the key and the check engine light does not come on. No other panel lights should come either, just the oil light. |
